Super Smash Bros. 4 Tournament Rules 

 

General Rules: 

  • Game version: US Nintendo Wii-U

  • Game Settings: 

    • Singles: 2 Stock, 6 Minute Time Limit, Items Off, Equipment Off, Best of 3 Matches (Semis and Fianls will be played Best of 5)

    • Format: Double Elimination Tournament

    • Maximum Number of Participants: 64, additional participants will be placed on a wait list

  • Playable Stages

    • Battlefield / Miiverse

    • Final Destination / Omega Battlefield / Omega Palutena’s Temple

    • Smashville

    • Town and City

    • Dreamland 64

    • Duck Hunt

    • Lylat Cruise

    • Umbra Clock Tower

  • All other stages not listed here are not allowed and illegal to play in the tournament

 

Additional Rules:

  • All controllers are welcomed, however, you must bring you own adapter (if applicable).

  • Controller or 3DS modding is banned.

  • Custom moves are DISABLED.

  • Amiibo’s and Mii characters are banned from the tournament.

  • All Wii U DLC Characters are legal for the tournament

  • Loading anything on to the consoles from a Nintendo portable gaming system is FORBIDDEN unless approved by the organizer.

  • You may not choose a stage you have already won on unless mutually agreed to.

  • You may not play on a stage that is not on the available stages list. This will result in a double disqualification.

  • Order of events:

    • Pick characters, then stage striking.

    • First stage is decided by banning from the Starter Stages in P1(1)-P2(1)-P1(1)-P2(1), until a stage has been picked

    • Winning player is not locked into the same character for the next match, but has to pick before loser selects character.

    • Maximum allowed time between games is 60 seconds. Any player violating this rule will be issued a loss.

  • Anyone found breaking the rules or found participating in unsportsmanlike conduct (deemed as such by tournament admins) will automatically be given a double disqualifications

 

Rule Changes:

  • The Administrators reserve the right to modify the rules as needed. This includes changes due to software updates or releases, event organizer decisions and all other changes deemed necessary to run a successful tournament. Players are responsible to check the rules on a regular basis and prior to the event to ensure they are in complete compliance. Players must understand that rules listed are guidelines to ensure fair and competitive play and are subject to interpretation by the administrators based on the spirit of the game.
